One of the benefits of living in Sydney is that there are so many places to visit and each area is different.

I plan to kick off a series of blog posts called “local lookout” which will show you many aspects of Sydney that I have explored and loved. It’s a chance for me to be a tourist in my own city but also a great way to show the diversity that exists in this beautiful city. Maroubra Beach is hidden gem. Yesterday, we were at a barbecue and after sitting around chatting and enjoying food, our wonderful hosts asked us if we wanted to check out the nearby beach. It was 5pm and the sun was still brightly shining, so we agreed to take a quick walk to the beach. When we reached the beach, I was surprised to see how busy it was and so late in the afternoon. There were surfers, swimmers and sun bathers enjoying the cool sea breeze and even cooler waters.
