Monaco is famous for a lot of things such as the Montecarlo Casino, the Grimaldi Royal Family and the Prince’s Palace.
The last time that I visited Monaco was in the summer of 2011, during my honeymoon. Back then, the sun was shining brightly and the sky was as blue as can be. When I visited Monaco in November 2013, it was winter and funnily enough, we experienced the same weather conditions again!
Nice, France. I have been here twice already and I still have fond memories of this place.
When Rick asked me where I wanted to travel to in December, I told him that we had not seen enough of France. I immediately remembered our Spring honeymoon which included a visit to Nice three years ago. The weather was warm with a slight breeze and the promenade had a vibrant feel about it. Although I have visited you before, I was equally excited and grateful to have visited you again. I enjoyed walking through the funky streets of Montemarte with its amazing architecture and breath-taking views. Continue reading “Dear Paris: one day itinerary”
During a trip to Paris last weekend, we decided to visit Versailles, the beautiful French Palace which was home to the famous Queen Marie-Antoinette and King Louis XVI.
“Let them eat cake” was Marie-Antoinette’s legendary saying and eat cake she did! This was a woman who was known for her impeccable fashion sense and extreme spending habits which combined with her political decisions, sadly lead to the Royal family’s demise. The family reigned over France until 1792. They had tried to escape Paris dressed as servants but were later captured and imprisoned. Marie-Antoinette and King Louis XVI were eventually executed but the memories of their reign are held within the walls of Cheateux De Versailles… Continue reading “4 Reasons why you will love the Chateau De Versailles”
Monaco is a beautiful province on the French Riviera known for being the playground of the rich and famous. However, I think that Monaco is so much more than the home to the Grand Prix, beautiful people, expensive houses and luxurious yachts. It’s a province with an interesting history, beautiful architecture and monarchy which has stood the test of time. Continue reading “A wonderful day in Monaco! What makes this place special?”
If I were to live in France, I would choose the charming city of Nice. Nice is one of the largest cities in France and forms part of the French Riviera. We spent some time there in May, just as the weather was heating up, so it was the perfect time to explore and live like a local.
Don’t you love places that remind you of childhood dreams that have come true to life? For me, this was Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris, France.
There are so many gardens in Paris but luckily we stumbled upon this place during our first day of exploring this charming city. I felt like I was walking into a Mary Poppins scene – the scene where Bert draws a picture in the park and the children jump through it to a magical world… (did I mention that I loved Walt Disney?) Continue reading “Jardin du Luxembourg is what childhood dreams are made of!”
When we selected destinations in France, Lyon was not on our top cities to visit, but it was suggested as a place to stop-over when traveling between Nice and Paris. When I researched things to do in Lyon, I didn’t really find that much on the Internet and when I asked people about their previous trips to Lyon they had to think for a long time to even remember the place. I knew that Lyon was a large city, had a bunch of Roman ruins and a bunch of churches. What I actually experienced was a city that reminded me of moments with my close group of friends.Continue reading “The hidden jewel that is Lyon, France!”
